This loose-fitting garment is perfect for your first sweater! Stylish yet forgiving. Our workshop guides you through the steps of making a knitted top-down raglan sweater. You will learn to read a pattern, gauge swatch, choose sizes, set up markers, make raglan increases, separate for sleeves, place sleeve stitches on holders, finish the body, pick up sleeve stitches, complete the sleeve, and pick up stitches for the neckline.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

This class is for the adventurous beginner who knows how to work the long-tail cast-on, the knit stitch, the purl stitch, and working in the round.

CLASS SCHEDULE

We have a lot of material to cover in these sessions, so please plan to be actively involved.

Session One: January 10, 2025, 1 pm - 3 pm

Discussion of sizing and gauge swatching. Practice with the quick gauge ruler and needle adjustment. Homework for Session Two: create a gauge swatch, wash and dry it, and practice reading your gauge so we can discuss it in class.

Session Three: January 24, 2025, 1 pm - 3 pm

We will divide for the sleeves and set up to finish the body. Homework for Session Four: work on the body to the desired length (or go as far as you can and still attend Session Four).

Session Four: January 31, 2025, 1 pm - 3 pm

Place sleeve stitches onto needles and begin knitting the sleeves, including discussion of decreases and record-keeping methods. Homework for Wildcard Session: Finish both sleeves and the body length, then bind off.
