Dream in Color

In just a few years, Chicago-based Dream in Color has quickly become a favorite of knitters and crocheters everywhere. They offer beautiful, hand-dyed yarns in a soft Australian merino base, which are then spun and dyed in the United States. Dream in Color was recently voted "Best Hand-Dyed or Hand-Painted" yarn for 2009 by users of the knitting and crocheting website, Ravelry.com.

Dream in Color's special "Veil-Dyeing" process results in harmonious and subtle semi-solid colors that don't pool when worked up. This makes these hand-dyed yarns as appropriate for sweaters as for smaller projects. DIC's smooth, worsted-spun, plied yarns have excellent stitch definition and elasticity. They are ideal for cables and textured stitches. These ever-so-slightly variegated yarns also make for colorwork that is truly special when combined with a more solid or neutral colored yarn.

Best of all, all the yarns are machine washable and dryable! Dream in Colors is a great choice for gift projects or for easy-care garments for yourself.

is a worsted-weight with a recommended gauge of 4.5 stitches to the inch. Each 4-ounce skein contains approximately 250 yards. Classy is an excellent choice for blankets, sweaters, and other large projects, as well as for accessories.

is Dream in Color's fingering weight yarn; its recommended gauge is 6.5 to 8 stitches per inch. Each skein contains a generous 450 yards and will make a fantastic pair of socks. Of course, it can also be used for baby garments, mittens, hats, and other accessories!

is created from the same base yarn as Smooshy, but is spun through with 2 percent silver fibers which do not affect the gauge. This gives the yarn a very sophisticated and subtle sparkle. Choose Starry for a gorgeous evening shawl. Or, it can be held together with a strand of Smooshy to create special garments knit at a worsted gauge.

The color palette offered by Dream in Color really is dreamy! It includes sophisticated, rich, saturated jewel tones, as well as fun and youthful pastels. When combined, they can create fantastic garments for adults and children alike.
