Prism offers a multitude of hand dyed yarns to use alone or to complement their exquisite Stuff line. The beauty of these hand dyed yarns is that they combine more effectively with multicolor yarns. The Prism hand dyeing process gives long lines of uniform color and their patterns take advantage of color repeat in the strands. Prism colors are extremely clear, vivid and saturated. To flaunt and display the rich look of the fiber and color, we often recommend various pattern stitches such as slip stitches or chevrons.

We are honored to carry the brilliant skeins created by Laura Militzer Bryant, the founder of Prism Arts, Inc. Laura is an accomplished designer having published more than 39 pattern books. Her fiber artworks hang in museums and public buildings around her studio base in St Petersburg, Florida, USA. She is continuously creating new pattern support for her wonderful products.
The beauty of Prism products is that they are hand dyed and that means no two dye lots are exactly the same! Of course, this means it is very import to order sufficient amounts of yarn at the start of a project because dye lots vary tremendously.
Which naturally means accumulating some leftovers: boxes full, bags full, closets full of leftovers. We understand. Here at River Colors Studio it often means more than just "closets full", sad to say. But there is a bright side to all this.
Laura helps us solve life's persistent question: "What do I do with these leftovers?" Pick up a copy of her book "The Yarn Stash Workbook"! There are whole sections about the theory and practice of mixing skeins that are especially helpful in organizing your stash into color "weights" and using various colors together. Plus you can choose among Laura's highly regarded designs for knitted scarves, hats, vests, afghans, etc. and more etc. We often receive individual sample skeins and "Yarn Stash" helps us all keep up, or keep up to some degree anyway. Our working copy is becoming rather "used" looking.
Laura has written several other popular knitting books. As an accomplished fiber artist and knitter, Laura shares her knowledge as contributing editor for "Cast On" magazine, writing a regular column "The Art of Knitting". Laura is on the Advisory Board for The Knitting Guild Association and stays extra busy teaching design and knitting techniques at conventions, stores and retreats around the country.
