Maggi Knits

Maggi Knits is Irish countryside roots with global sophistication.

The beauty of working with the Maggi Knits collection is that the fibers themselves have a wonderful hand that you really must experience to believe. The patterns are so interesting to study. They at first appear complex but are actually relatively simple to produce once you learn the basic techniques she outlines in her books.

The projects are a creative adventure, a way path that literally unfolds as you move into each new section. Maggi's projects and styles cover the range of conservative and traditional to flamboyant and fashion forward and always, always with deeply rooted class.

The Maggi Knits collection is designed exclusively for the discerning international woman of today. The designs embody an adventurous use of textures and colors which create a distinctive range of garments.

In fact, Maggi's hand knit designs were once banned from the Miss World beauty pageant because they gave her Miss Ireland contestants an "unfair advantage"!

Each garment coordinates with others in the collection but can also compliment your existing wardrobe. Maggi incorporates the traditional Aran stitch but with a uniquely modern approach. Although in the past her emphasis was on ready-to-wear garments and knitwear she now focuses on creating hand-knitting books and yarn in an affordable designer collection.

Innovation is the bedrock of Maggie Jackson’s impressive success. Her strikingly signature combination of traditional fabrics – such as Irish Linen – with mohair, denim and tweed yarns makes MaggiKnits truly unique. Combining a “sense of history with a touch of class” brings her Knitwear Collection to the forefront as unique and wonderfully individual garments.

As a young girl, Maggi sat enthralled watching her mother's clicking needles knit warm, handsome sweaters for the menfolk. By six, she was knitting herself, off on her own journey. She schooled and worked her farm chores by day and by night she scissored her own designs in newspaper patterns on the kitchen table.

As a young woman, Maggi studied fashion design and went on to win prestigious international awards for her knit designs. Maggi keeps the strong Irish sea and land traditions in her knits, like the ancient native Aran stitch first used by fisherman on the Isles of Aran in Galway Bay. The ancient Gaelic garments still influence the Maggi Knits designs, giving them a classic, ageless voice that speaks to all of us.
